Arsenal youngster Luis Munoz produced a remarkable 94th-minute winner against Napoli as the 14-year-old became the second-youngest goalscorer in UEFA Youth League history.
Munoz came off the bench in the 77th minute before scoring deep into stoppage time to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory for Arsenal Under-19s in their opening European match.
UEFA’s official match centre confirms Igor Tyjon provided the assist before Munoz struck in the fourth minute of added time.
It was an extraordinary introduction to this season’s competition for another player emerging through Arsenal’s Hale End academy pathway.
Luis Munoz follows Max Dowman into Arsenal history
Andre Harriman-Annous had given Arsenal the lead after 28 minutes before Milton Pereyra equalised for Napoli shortly after half-time.
The contest appeared destined for a draw until Munoz delivered the decisive moment.
The 14-year-old had been introduced alongside several other changes before fellow substitute Tyjon created Arsenal’s winner.
The Sun reports that Munoz was 14 years, eight months and 28 days old, making him the second-youngest scorer in Youth League history.
Remarkably, the record still belongs to another Arsenal youngster.
Max Dowman scored against Atalanta in September 2024 aged 14 years, eight months and 19 days, with UEFA continuing to recognise him as the competition’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
Munoz had already made Youth League history himself last season when he became the competition’s youngest player.
