Arsenal youngster starts as late Belgium winner ends England winning run

Arsenal youngster Ifeoluwa Ibrahim played 58 minutes as England Under-19s lost 1-0 to Belgium in their final match of the international window on Monday.

Ibrahim started for Ben Futcher’s side in Marbella and left the pitch with the game still goalless, before Belgium struck in the 90th minute.

The result ended England’s winning run after victories over the Republic of Ireland, Norway and the United States.

Ibrahim features as England finish international programme

The FA’s official match report confirms that Leicester City’s Louis Page replaced Ibrahim as part of five England changes in the 58th minute.

England remained level until the closing stages, but Belgium’s late winner condemned the Young Lions to their first defeat of the campaign.

Arsenal teammate Max Dowman was absent after withdrawing through injury. The FA announced his departure on Sunday without specifying the problem or providing a recovery timetable.

Dowman had previously been the subject of reports about a possible training opportunity with Thomas Tuchel’s senior England squad, although that was not a confirmed senior call-up.

Ibrahim’s appearance adds to Arsenal’s youth international involvement during the break, which has also included Mylo Bernard completing 90 minutes on his England Under-17 debut.
