Arsenal forward Andre Harriman-Annous has made his England Under-20 debut after turning a place on the standby list into an international opportunity.
The 18-year-old appeared as a substitute in England’s 2-1 victory over France, according to Jeorge Bird’s report for Arseblog News.
Harriman-Annous joined the squad following an injury to Jimmy Jay Morgan. Arsenal goalkeeper Khari Ranson also received a call-up, replacing Finlay Herrick.
Harriman-Annous takes next England step
The appearance follows Harriman-Annous’s previous involvement with England Under-18s and adds another experience to his development alongside his club football.
He has already contributed to Arsenal’s European youth campaign this season, scoring the opener in the 2-1 Youth League victory at Napoli.
Luis Munoz’s stoppage-time winner took the headlines that night, but Harriman-Annous had put Arsenal ahead in the first half.
Central role offers Arsenal youngster another test
Bird also reports that Harriman-Annous has recently played more regularly through the middle at youth level, having previously spent time on the left.
That gives his development an additional dimension. A central striker must occupy defenders, provide an outlet under pressure and connect attacks as well as finish them.
For Harriman-Annous, the next challenge is to build on the international opportunity through consistent performances for Arsenal.
Moving from standby selection to an Under-20 appearance is an encouraging step. Establishing himself in future squads would turn that opening into sustained progress.
