Arsenal-bound midfielder Victor Ozhianvuna remains unavailable for Shamrock Rovers as the teenager continues his recovery ahead of his January move to north London.
The 17-year-old has been sidelined for several months and was again absent from Shamrock Rovers’ latest squad.
In their team news ahead of facing Waterford, Rovers confirmed their injury situation remained unchanged.
Ozhianvuna had already been specifically listed as unavailable before the previous game against St Patrick’s Athletic.
Ozhianvuna preparing for Arsenal move
Arsenal already have an agreement in place to sign the highly rated midfielder.
Shamrock Rovers officially confirmed in October 2025 that Ozhianvuna will move to Arsenal in January 2027 after turning 18.
He has been with Rovers since the age of six and broke into their senior side at only 16.
His development has subsequently been interrupted by injury.
Rovers previously revealed that Ozhianvuna had visited Arsenal during his rehabilitation while the Irish club waited for a specialist update.
That makes his recovery particularly relevant with his move now only a few months away.
Arsenal can take patient approach
There is little need for Arsenal to rush Ozhianvuna back into action.
The teenager is being signed as a long-term prospect rather than an immediate solution for Mikel Arteta’s first team.
Our permanent Arsenal academy guide explains how the club can use academy football, senior training and loans differently depending on each player’s development.
For Ozhianvuna, arriving healthy will be the immediate priority.
His Arsenal move remains scheduled for January, while attention will now turn to when Shamrock Rovers are able to welcome him back onto the pitch.
