Arsenal linked with sensational Rayan Cherki swoop as Liverpool threaten move

Arsenal would reportedly be interested in signing Rayan Cherki if Manchester City are forced to sell, although Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain could provide formidable competition.

According to TEAMtalk, the Gunners have longstanding admiration for the France international’s technical ability and creativity.

The report links a potential opportunity to the possibility of City suffering relegation through their financial case. That remains a conditional transfer scenario, with no Arsenal bid or negotiations reported.

Liverpool and PSG could complicate Arsenal move

Liverpool reportedly met Cherki before his move to Manchester, while PSG retain an interest in bringing him back to France. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also named as clubs monitoring his progress.

However, Cherki’s contract presents a significant obstacle to any approach.

City confirmed a deal running until 2030 when he joined from Lyon in June 2025. There is no suggestion that he is approaching a cut-price contractual exit.

His Premier League credentials have strengthened since that move. Cherki joined Declan Rice in the PFA Team of the Year that included five Arsenal players.

What would Cherki offer Arsenal?

Cherki’s ability to create with either foot would give Mikel Arteta another option against opponents who defend narrowly and leave little room around the penalty area.

The recruitment question would be where those qualities fit into Arsenal’s existing attack, and whether the likely cost could be justified.

For now, availability is the key missing ingredient. Arsenal’s reported admiration alone does not mean City are ready to negotiate.
