Arsenal set firm Victor Osimhen condition over €20m salary

Arsenal remain interested in signing Victor Osimhen but have reportedly made it clear they will not break their wage structure to bring the Galatasaray striker to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have explored another major attacking addition before the transfer window closes, with Osimhen back under consideration alongside Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

Arsenal have already held discussions with Galatasaray over the Nigeria international. A fresh report has now revealed the financial condition that could determine whether those talks progress.

Arsenal refuse to match Victor Osimhen salary

According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal remain seriously interested in Osimhen but are unwilling to meet his current salary in Turkey.

The 27-year-old is reportedly earning more than €20million net per year at Galatasaray.

Arsenal would therefore require Osimhen to lower his salary expectations if he wants to complete a move to the Premier League champions.

That represents a significant development after ReadArsenal reported earlier this month that Osimhen’s availability had been discussed during talks between Arsenal and Galatasaray.

Foot Mercato says Arsenal remain interested despite the financial obstacle, with Mikel Arteta keen to increase the competition available in attack.

Osimhen decision could shape Arsenal transfer plans

Osimhen scored 22 goals and provided eight assists across 33 appearances in all competitions last season and has already started the new campaign strongly.

His potential arrival would create another major selection question for Arteta.

Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres for £63million last summer, while Kai Havertz started ahead of the Sweden international and scored during Friday’s 3-0 victory over Coventry City.

The club are also pursuing a potential £100m-plus move for Julian Alvarez, although convincing the Argentine to return to England remains a major obstacle.

That makes Osimhen an intriguing alternative.

Arsenal’s willingness to consider another elite striker demonstrates the scale of their ambition, but they do not appear prepared to abandon their salary structure to make it happen.

For Osimhen, the choice could therefore become increasingly straightforward.

If he wants Arsenal, a significant financial compromise may be required.
