Chloe Kelly will miss Arsenal’s Champions League trip to Paris FC after Renée Slegers confirmed the winger is managing a hamstring issue.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Arsenal head coach said Kelly was unavailable despite coming off the bench against Chelsea on Sunday.
It removes an attacking option as Arsenal seek a response to that defeat. Our analysis of Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal examines the challenge facing Slegers’ side.
Why Chloe Kelly will miss Paris FC
Slegers explained that Kelly had experienced hamstring problems without an identifiable injury.
As reported by VAVEL from the pre-match press conference, she said: “Nothing we could see from an injury perspective, but been managing something, and at the moment, not available to play.”
That distinction matters. Slegers confirmed an availability problem without announcing a diagnosed tear or a lengthy absence.
She also explained that Kelly had been fit and available for her substitute appearance at Stamford Bridge. Discussions between the player, manager and medical team followed on Monday.
Slegers loses an option for European response
Kelly’s absence reduces Arsenal’s ability to change the attack during Wednesday’s match, even if Slegers retains much of her starting line-up.
The Gunners have scored only twice in their opening four WSL fixtures. They also needed a late Mariona Caldentey penalty to beat HB Køge in their European opener.
Slegers must now find a more productive combination without Kelly available.
Her next appearance remains uncertain, with no specific return date given in the update.
