Arsenal have received an encouraging Ezri Konsa injury update after Thomas Tuchel confirmed the defender completed full England training on Friday.
Konsa is back in contention for Saturday’s Nations League match against Croatia after remaining an unused substitute in the midweek victory over Czechia.
His return follows the individual training programme he followed earlier in the international break.
Ezri Konsa injury update brings England encouragement
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Tuchel confirmed Konsa’s progress:
“It seems that Ezri Konsa is back. He did the full training today.”
The England manager also described the Arsenal defender as “a key player for us”, underlining his importance before the trip to Croatia.
Konsa had completed the previous weekend’s defeat against Spain before the minor fitness issue interrupted his involvement.
Tuchel’s wider assessment was positive, too. In comments published by England’s official website, he said the remaining squad members had all completed Friday’s session following Nico O’Reilly’s withdrawal.
Why Konsa’s return matters for Arsenal
For Mikel Arteta, the encouraging development comes with William Saliba still working towards his comeback.
Recent reports have suggested possible October return targets for Saliba, although Arsenal have not confirmed a date.
Having Konsa available would therefore help preserve Arteta’s defensive options when Leeds visit the Emirates on 10 October.
First comes England’s match in Rijeka, which kicks off at 5pm BST. Completing training puts Konsa back in the selection picture, although Tuchel has not confirmed whether he will start.
