Martin Odegaard given Arsenal break as Norway boss explains recovery plan

Martin Odegaard has been given time off by Arsenal after completing Norway’s international programme, according to a report.

The Gunners captain returned to England following Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Portugal in Porto, with Norway manager Stale Solbakken explaining that several players had received a short break from their clubs.

Ryan Taylor’s report for football.london, syndicated by AOL, says Odegaard is expected to resume training later this week.

Why has Martin Odegaard been given time off?

Odegaard played every minute of Norway’s four Nations League matches during the window, according to the report.

Discussing the players returning to their clubs, Solbakken said:

“They’ve been given a few days off by their clubs.”

The Norway boss highlighted the demands on players who had limited holiday time following the World Cup before returning to domestic and international football.

Odegaard’s involvement followed an ankle concern earlier in the camp. Read Arsenal previously covered the scan findings that eased fears of major damage.

The reported break concerns his recovery after international duty. It does not announce a new injury.

When do Arsenal play next?

Arsenal host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 10 October, with kick-off at 12.30pm BST.

Lille then visit three days later in the Champions League, beginning a busy sequence detailed in our guide to Arsenal’s next five fixtures.

The report does not provide an exact training return date or confirm whether Odegaard will start against Leeds.
