Arsenal are reportedly making progress towards a new Declan Rice contract, while a fresh report questions the pace of renewal plans involving Martin Odegaard, David Raya and Kai Havertz.
Writing for CaughtOffside on Saturday, Mark Brus said there was optimism over an agreement with Rice.
“It’s not fully agreed yet, but there’s optimism from all sides about a deal being done soon,” he wrote.
Odegaard, Raya and Havertz contract questions
Brus identifies Odegaard, Raya and Havertz as three players whose current deals run until 2028.
He says anticipated talks have not produced the progress he expected, while stressing that delays can have ordinary explanations.
The Odegaard account differs from TEAMtalk’s 23 September report, which described negotiations with the captain as progressing positively.
Read Arsenal discussed that earlier reporting in our analysis of the club’s contract priorities. The differing accounts leave the precise stage of Odegaard’s negotiations unclear.
Declan Rice remains central to Arsenal’s plans
Our earlier coverage of Rice’s proposed extension explained that his existing agreement runs until 2028, with Arsenal holding an option for another year.
That gives the club time to negotiate while seeking to secure one of Mikel Arteta’s key midfielders for longer.
The latest account gives Arsenal supporters a positive update on Rice, but leaves the timetable for the other three renewals unresolved.
For sporting director Andrea Berta, resolving those situations would bring greater clarity to Arsenal’s planning beyond the current season.
