Viktor Gyokeres has played down concerns over his fitness after finishing Sweden’s victory against Poland with blood on his socks.
The Arsenal striker faced questions about a possible stamp after the match, but his response offered reassurance rather than fresh alarm.
The update comes with Mikel Arteta already monitoring Kai Havertz’s recovery following his withdrawal from Germany duty.
Viktor Gyokeres injury update offers reassurance
According to The Standard’s report, Sportbladet asked Gyokeres whether an opponent had stamped on him.
“Yes, that can happen sometimes,” he replied.
Sweden manager Graham Potter also indicated that the forward would be available for the remaining internationals against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania.
Gyokeres has scored in both of Sweden’s opening two matches during this international window.
Havertz uncertainty increases Arsenal importance
Keeping Gyokeres available would give Arteta an established centre-forward option while Arsenal assess Havertz.
The German’s recovery timetable remains unconfirmed in our latest injury update, with Leeds United visiting the Emirates on 10 October.
That makes this a welcome development for Arsenal. Gyokeres’ bloodied socks prompted questions, but the reported response from player and manager points towards continued involvement with Sweden.
