Arsenal Bank Share of £27m UEFA Compensation Pool

Arsenal Set for Six-Figure Payout From £27m UEFA Scheme

Arsenal are set to bank a six-figure sum from UEFA’s £27m Club Benefits Programme payout for the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League.

The Arsenal UEFA compensation pool payment forms part of a wider scheme. UEFA built it to repay 611 clubs across every member association for releasing players for international duty, according to a football.london report on UEFA compensation.

The money covers Nations League and European Qualifier fixtures from the 2024/25 season. Arsenal sent several senior players away on international duty throughout that campaign. Their exact share will follow once UEFA finalises the individual club totals.

Aleksander Čeferin and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi Detail Official UEFA Distribution

UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin explained the thinking behind the programme.

“The Club Support Programme acknowledges the essential contribution that clubs add to the success of national team football. Through this Programme, we distribute a share of UEFA EURO and UEFA Nations League revenue to clubs across Europe, professional and amateur alike, in recognition of their role in developing players and releasing them for national team duty. When football thrives, everybody benefits.”

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi represents the UEFA-EFC strategic partnership as chairman of the European Football Clubs group. He welcomed the first round of payments.

“The Club Benefits Programme is a very important part of the UEFA-EFC strategic partnership. Its scale and impact are clear, with more than 600 clubs of all sizes benefiting from this first payment. It recognises the essential contribution clubs make to the international game by developing players and making them available for their national teams. We are very pleased to continue strengthening this vital link between club and national team football.”

Rate Per Appearance and Impact on Mikel Arteta’s Squad

UEFA pays clubs a fixed fee for every eligible appearance a player makes on a Nations League or European Qualifier match sheet. Clubs are paid for players on the sheet rather than minutes played. Squads with the most capped internationals earn the most.

RB Leipzig topped the list of beneficiaries. The German club released 16 players during the qualifying period and collected the largest total of any club in Europe. Arsenal’s total will sit well below that figure, but it is still expected to reach six figures. That reflects how often Mikel Arteta has had to release players for international duty this season. The pattern is already visible in our earlier report on the club’s transfer business, and it continues with Viktor Gyokeres taking on responsibilities for Sweden while Kai Havertz manages his fitness at club level.

Euro 2028 Allocation and Future UEFA International Compensation Timeline

The Nations League payments form part of a wider €104m pool. UEFA has set this aside for the 2024/25 and 2026/27 Nations League editions, plus the related Euro qualifying campaigns. A further €140m (£120m) is reserved specifically for Euro 2028, taking the overall programme to €244m (£209m).

Arsenal’s next payout from the UEFA compensation scheme will arrive from the 2026/27 Nations League cycle and the qualifying campaign for Euro 2028.
