What Man City’s Reported 115-Charge Verdict Means for Arsenal

Arsenal supporters are watching developments around Manchester City’s financial case closely after reports claimed an independent commission found the majority of the Premier League’s charges against City proven.

Sky Sports reports that the case has now moved towards the appeal stage, while the Premier League has declined to comment because proceedings remain confidential.

Manchester City insist the process is still ongoing.

Read Arsenal previously covered supporter reaction as a verdict on City’s 115 charges approached.

Could Arsenal be awarded Premier League titles?

There is currently no basis to say Arsenal will receive additional Premier League titles.

The central financial-information allegations concern seasons between 2009/10 and 2017/18, while Arsenal’s recent runner-up finishes behind City came years later.

No punishment has yet been confirmed and the commission’s full judgment has not been published.

Possible sanctions under Premier League rules can include fines, points deductions and potentially other penalties, but what will actually happen remains unknown.

Could the 2018 League Cup affect Arsenal?

One Arsenal result does fall directly inside the historical period under scrutiny.

City beat Arsenal 3-0 in the 2018 League Cup final, with Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva scoring at Wembley.

However, even if historical trophies were eventually stripped, that would not automatically mean Arsenal are awarded the cup.

The EFL’s competition regulations would ultimately matter for any League Cup decision.

For Arsenal, the key message is therefore caution.

Reports suggest a major decision has been reached, but sanctions, appeals and any impact on historical honours remain unresolved.
