Arsenal are expected to renew Kai Havertz’s contract after the Germany international strengthened his position as one of Mikel Arteta’s most important attacking players.
A fresh report from The Times says Havertz has two years remaining on his current Arsenal deal and that his contract is expected to be renewed.
No agreement or formal announcement has been reported at this stage, but the development comes after an excellent start to the new campaign.
Havertz has scored three goals across Arsenal’s opening four competitive matches, with Arteta continuing to trust the 27-year-old ahead of Viktor Gyökeres in his strongest starting XI.
Havertz continues to strengthen Arsenal position
His latest statement arrived against former club Chelsea on Sunday.
Havertz scored Arsenal’s equaliser in the 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium before playing an important role in Martin Ødegaard’s winner.
As we examined in our analysis of Havertz’s growing advantage over Viktor Gyökeres, the German offers Arteta considerably more than goals.
His movement allows Arsenal’s wide players to attack space around him, while his pressing and ability to link midfield with attack remain central to Arteta’s preferred structure.
The Times describes Havertz as an increasingly indispensable part of the Arsenal attack and reports that he ranks highly among Premier League forwards for his physical output and attacking movement.
It represents another significant step in his Arsenal career.
The Gunners paid £65million to sign Havertz from Chelsea in 2023, when questions surrounded exactly where he would fit into Arteta’s team.
He is now increasingly established as Arsenal’s first-choice centre-forward.

Gyökeres will receive opportunities as Arsenal enter the Champions League and their schedule becomes more demanding.
For now, however, Havertz has control of the shirt.
A new Arsenal contract would underline just how dramatically his status at the Emirates has developed.
