Arsenal owner Kroenke agrees record $4bn sports takeover

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has agreed a takeover of Major League Baseball side the Los Angeles Angels, further expanding one of the biggest sporting ownership portfolios in the world.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has reached an agreement with current Angels owner Arte Moreno, with Reuters confirming the takeover is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, subject to approval from Major League Baseball and other customary conditions.

No official purchase price has been disclosed, although reports in the United States have valued the deal at approximately $4billion.

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke expands sporting empire

Kroenke already controls an extraordinary collection of major sporting organisations.

Alongside Arsenal, KSE owns the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, NBA side Denver Nuggets, NHL franchise Colorado Avalanche and MLS club Colorado Rapids.

The Angels would now become the latest addition.

The Reuters report on Kroenke’s agreement notes that the American businessman spoke positively about the opportunity to acquire a historic franchise operating in a major sporting market.

For Arsenal supporters, the agreement does not produce any immediate change at the Emirates Stadium.

It does, however, provide another illustration of the financial scale of the ownership group behind Mikel Arteta‘s Premier League champions.

Arsenal’s own success under the Kroenke ownership reached another landmark in 2025/26 when Arteta delivered the club’s first league championship in 22 years. Our permanent Arsenal trophies and honours guide tracks that title alongside every major honour in the club’s history.

Kroenke continues investment across elite sport

KSE has enjoyed significant success across several of its teams.

The Rams won the Super Bowl in 2022, while the Nuggets and Avalanche have also lifted major championships under Kroenke ownership.

Arsenal have now added another Premier League trophy to that collection following their 2025/26 success.

Supporters can follow Arteta’s current title-winning squad through our Arsenal First Team hub, with the club having just completed another major summer rebuild.

The Angels present a different challenge.

They have not reached Major League Baseball’s postseason since 2014, while Reuters notes they are heading towards an 11th consecutive losing season and have the league’s longest active playoff drought.

Kroenke will therefore inherit another major sporting organisation requiring long-term rebuilding if the takeover receives approval.

For Arsenal, the story is less about baseball itself and more about the continued expansion of the ownership group controlling the club.

A proposed $4bn acquisition only underlines how large the KSE sporting empire has become.
