Arsenal have been handed fresh encouragement in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola after Perry Groves claimed the Paris Saint-Germain winger would prefer to live in London.
The Gunners retain an interest in the France international as Mikel Arteta continues to assess attacking additions before the transfer window closes.
Liverpool have also made Barcola one of their leading targets, but former Arsenal forward Groves believes the 23-year-old could favour a move to north London.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Groves said he had been told by a source that Barcola wants to live in London.
Bradley Barcola Arsenal interest given fresh twist
Arsenal have monitored Barcola throughout the summer as they consider further additions on the left side of their attack.
Sky Sports previously reported that the Gunners retain an interest in the PSG winger and could turn to him after missing out on Morgan Rogers.
ReadArsenal examined the financial decision facing Arsenal over Barcola last week, with PSG expected to demand a substantial fee for one of their most valuable attacking players.
Liverpool remain serious competition.
The Merseyside club have identified Barcola as a leading target as they reshape their attack, while the winger has previously been reported to be open to a move away from Paris.
Groves believes Arsenal should now test PSG’s position.
He argued that Arteta’s side are currently better placed to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League, before adding that his own information suggests London would appeal to Barcola.
That does not mean Arsenal have opened negotiations or made a bid.
It does, however, add another interesting factor to a transfer race which could develop quickly over the final weeks of the window.
Arsenal have already added Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes this summer, but Arteta has confirmed the club remain open to further additions.
Barcola would represent another major statement.
Whether Arsenal are prepared to meet PSG’s valuation is likely to determine how far their interest progresses.
