Arsenal striker Jessie Gale completes Newcastle loan move

The Jessie Gale loan has been confirmed, with the Arsenal striker joining Newcastle United Women for the entire 2026/27 season.

The 19-year-old will continue her development in WSL2 after spending last season on loan with Portsmouth and Bristol City.

Arsenal confirmed the move on Thursday, with Gale joining a Newcastle side hoping to challenge for promotion. Arsenal’s official Jessie Gale loan announcement

She scored five goals in 15 appearances for Portsmouth before switching to Bristol City in January, where she added another four goals from 12 matches.

Jessie Gale loan gives striker promotion challenge

Newcastle represents another opportunity for Gale to play regular senior football rather than remain on the fringes of Renée Slegers’ squad.

The forward has already made her ambition clear. She wants to score regularly and help Newcastle win promotion to the WSL, describing the move as an easy decision after learning of their interest.

Gale also arrives with international pedigree.

She has represented England throughout the youth levels, earning Under-23 recognition, and is currently preparing with the Under-20 squad ahead of September’s World Cup.

Competition for attacking places at Arsenal remains intense. Alessia Russo will again be central to Slegers’ plans, while several summer additions have strengthened a squad expected to challenge for major honours.

ReadArsenal looked at Russo’s ambitions for another successful season earlier on Thursday, underlining the level Gale ultimately has to reach if she is to establish herself in north London.

For now, regular football is the priority.

Gale has already shown she can score at WSL2 level. A full season with a Newcastle side targeting promotion gives her the chance to turn that promise into a sustained campaign.
