Arsenal have made an enquiry over Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye as Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta continue assessing attacking options before the transfer window closes.
The Senegal international has attracted interest after establishing himself as one of Everton’s most dangerous attacking players.
Ben Jacobs has now provided a significant update on Arsenal’s position. Speaking to Latte Firm, and quoted by EPL Index, Jacobs said the Gunners “really like” Ndiaye and are one of the clubs to have enquired about his situation.
He also reports that Ndiaye has so far rejected a new contract proposal from Everton, while Al-Hilal are working on a potential deal.
There is no suggestion Arsenal have submitted a bid.
Why Iliman Ndiaye appeals to Arsenal
Ndiaye can operate from either flank or move into more central attacking areas, giving Arteta another versatile option across his front line.
Arsenal have already strengthened that department this summer with Christos Tzolis, who has quickly made an impression during pre-season.
ReadArsenal reported on Wednesday that Tzolis sees similarities between his game and former Gunner Alexis Sanchez, with the £34m signing already contributing a goal and an assist during pre-season.
Adding Ndiaye would increase the competition further.
Everton are under no immediate contractual pressure to sell, so Arsenal would still need to decide whether the finances make sense if their initial enquiry develops.
Reports have placed Ndiaye’s potential valuation around £75m, which would represent another major investment after Arsenal’s considerable summer spending.
For now, the important development is that Arsenal have taken the first step by checking his availability rather than simply monitoring from a distance.
