Roberto Carlos shares unpopular Gabriel Magalhaes opinion Arsenal fans will detest

At a Glance:

  • Roberto Carlos says Gabriel Magalhaes’ Brazilian teammate is a better player than him.
  • Carlos did not hesitate.
  • Hard to agree with Roberto Carlos about Gabriel.

Arsenal colossus Gabriel Magalhaes is not just one of the standout centre-backs in the business but simply one of the best players in the world.

While Gabriel was upset about Arsenal’s loss to PSG as it was his penalty that settled the Champions League final in the French giants’ favour, he remains a truly elite footballer.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed yet another superb season for the Gunners, helping the club win their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Despite Gabriel’s heroics for Arsenal last season, Roberto Carlos believes a player who was omitted from Brazil’s squad for the upcoming World Cup campaign.

Roberto Carlos says Joao Pedro is better than Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel must hold Carlos in high esteem, considering the Real Madrid legend is one of the best Brazilian players of all time and a defensive icon.

Gabriel may be an Arsenal legend but Roberto Carlos is a footballing great and has a strong case for being the best left-back to have ever graced the game.

Speaking to GOAL’s Front Three, the retired defender was quizzed about who he reckons is a better player out of Gabriel and Joao Pedro.

Roberto Carlos did not hesitate and picked Pedro.

Joao Pedro is nowhere near the player Gabriel Magalhaes is

Roberto Carlos’ opinion on football is worth its weight in gold but it is difficult to agree with his claim that Pedro is a superior player to Gabriel.

Gabriel has been elite since the 2022/2023 campaign and has widely been considered one of the world’s best central defenders.

Pedro has fared well at Chelsea but it would be an unpopular opinion to mention his name in the same breath as world-class strikers like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.

With Gabriel being a leader for Arsenal and one of Brazil’s main men, while Pedro has not even been selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the World Cup, the latter is nowhere near the former as a player.
