Reiss Nelson set to join Hoffenheim

Young Arsenal star Reiss Nelson is set to make shock departure to join Bundesliga giants Hoffenheim, as per a report from Chris Wheatley of Goal.

The 18-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2019 and has decided not to sign an extension as he wants to be playing regular first-team football. As a result, it looks like Arsenal are ready to cash in on him now, rather than lose him for a nominal fee in 12 months time.

Germany has become a popular destination for young English players recently, and the Bundesliga clubs are looking at the academies of Premier League sides for possible targets. Jadon Sancho is doing well at Borussia Dortmund, whilst Everton’s Ademola Lookman and Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster have been targeted by RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach, respectively.

Nelson made 16 appearances in all competitions last season but his path to the first-team looks blocked at the moment, hence why he’s set to make a move to Hoffenheim.
