The 18-year-old, who had been at Arsenal since he was six, penned a three-and-a-half year deal with the Catalan giants and he will join up with their B team.
McGuane was well thought of at Arsenal, although he’d made just one substitute appearance for their first team.
McGuane was also subject of interest from Rangers, but he turned them down. Arsenal were also keen to keep him but he apparently had his eyes set on a move to Spain.
As with all contracts of players in Spain, the teenager has a release clause, and his has been set at €25 million.
Arsenal know all too well what it’s like to acquire some of the best young talent in Europe, and they’ve now been on the receiving end of such a transaction.
