Arsenal face heavy competition for Lemar signature

Arsenal are facing strong competition for the signature of French winger Thomas Lemar after Barcelona registered their interest along with fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester City, according to a report from the Mirror.

The North London club have had three bids for the winger rejected by Ligue 1 champions Monaco who claim that they are not going to sell any more of their star players this summer.

However, should a club offer £50m for Lemar then Monaco will consider allowing the winger to leave, but many clubs have been reluctant to meet that valuation.

The 21-year-old was only a target for Arsenal at first but now has several major European teams chasing his signature.

Lemar’s name has been mentioned on Barcelona’s list of players to replace Neymar and the Spanish giants have the spending power to outbid any of their competitors.

The increase of clubs interested in Lemar has worried Arsene Wenger who is now plotting a £50m bid for Lemar, who was a key figure for Monaco as they stormed to the Ligue 1 title and the UEFA Champions League semi-final last season.

Lemar is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League as he looks to cement his place in the France squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
