Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he is still “far” from making a full recovery from his injury but has scrapped recent rumours about retiring from football.
The Spanish midfielder has been injured for nine months following multiple surgeries on his achilles.

Cazorla’s Arsenal future has been in doubt recently with many questioning whether he will play for the Gunners again but the midfielder is concentrating on making his recovery first.
The Independent report that the injury is making a personal impact on Cazorla as he is finding it difficult to remain positive during his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
I started my recovery two weeks ago. I’m still far [from playing]. I do not have strength in my tendon or muscle mass. I am fine but I do not want to set a return date because if I can’t fulfil it would be a big blow. I only think about the day to day. I really want to play again and I will work to get back as soon as possible.

The 32-year-old has also noticed speculation of him retiring from football, but says that although it has crossed his mind he does not want to leave on such a low note and wants his son to see him playing again.
Every day my son asks me if I will play again because he really wants to see me out on the pitch again and I really hope that it will happen soon.
