Arsene Wenger “fits the criteria perfectly” of the next permanent England manager, according to the Football Association’s chief executive, Martin Glenn.
Wenger is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and has admitted that he would consider taking the role if he free in the future.
At 66-years-old, he could decide to forgo the day-to-day demands of club football and move to the international arena and the FA would surely welcome him if he decides that the role is one he wants.

After Sam Allardyce’s departure, England have given themselves plenty of time to appoint a permanent replacement by putting Gareth Southgate in charge for the next four games.
This means that Wenger’s future with Arsenal could be decided by that point and if he chooses to move on, the FA will surely look to hire him.
The initial thought was that England wanted to hire an English manager but Glenn admitted to the BBC that was not the case.
