Alexis Sanchez, the man who earned Arsenal a vital point in their opening Champions League group game against Paris Saint-Germain, will only sign a new deal at the club if he gets a big wage increase and is allowed to put a release clause in the contract, according to John Cross of The Mirror.
Arsenal have opened contract talks with both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil and whilst the Gunners are confident that the German will put pen to paper, there is still an air of uncertainty around the future of the Chilean international.
Sanchez was the subject of interest from Italian giants Juventus over the summer and whilst he seems happy enough to sign with Arsenal if they meet his wage demands, it looks like he wants to have the option of leaving in the future and does not want to be completely tied down by the new deal.
If Arsenal agree to his request, they will be setting a precedent for all future contract negotiations with current players, which is something they will be very wary of.
