Arsenal Finally Set To Welcome Lucas Perez

Arsenal have finally added a striker!

On Sunday, the Gunners announced on their official website, the signing of Lucas Perez.

Although Perez wasn’t Arsene Wenger’s first choice, he is coming off an extremely productive season in La Liga, where he scored 19 goals (in all competitions) for Deportivo La Coruna.

Prior to his breakthrough season, where he also scored in seven successive matches, the 27-year old Spanish forward began his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid before moving over to Rayo Vallecano. From there he continued his career in the Ukraine (Karpaty Lviv) as well as in Greece (PAOK).

Arsène Wenger said: “He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs. He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”

With his speed and change of pace, Perez offers a different attacking option from Olivier Giroud. It’ll be interesting whether Wenger looks to pair the two or hope the presence of Perez will bring the best out of the big Frenchmen, who was in good form during France’s run to the final of Euro 2016.

With Perez finally at the Emirates, all that remains is the official word on Shkodran Mustafa’s signing to complete Arsenal’s business during this transfer window.
