Arsenal were reportedly looking to bring in at least once new central defender this summer, but they might end up having to bring in two after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for up to five months with an injury.
Laurent Koscielny has been given an extended break after reaching the Euro 2016 final with France, so the Gunners look short at the back.
According to Adrian Kajumba of The Mirror, Arsenal have added Fabian Schar to their list of potential signings.

The 24-year-old only joined Hoffenheim from Basel last summer but he’s impressed in Germany and performed very well at the Euros as Switzerland advanced to the Last 16 before losing against Poland on penalties.
At the moment, Gabriel Paulista and either Calum Chambers or Rob Holding will start against Liverpool, which might be enough but it’d be nice for Arsene Wenger to have a few more options.
Schar would provide experience to Wenger, especially in Europe as he’s played Champions League football for Basel.
