Lyon have confirmed, via social media, that they have rejected a bid from Arsenal for striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Despite bagging 23 goals in 46 appearances for Lyon last season, Lacazette was not selected to play for France at Euro 2016 and he reportedly wants to leave the club this summer.

However, in their statement released following the bid, they said the player is irreplaceable and not for sale at any price.

The bid was said to be worth €35million (£29.4million), which actually seems quite low in the current transfer market, and despite them saying otherwise, Arsenal might be able to tempt Lyon into selling the striker if they increase their bid.

The Gunners have found themselves frustrated in their search for a striker this summer after Jamie Vardy rejected a move to the Emirates and now Lyon are playing hardball over the possible sale of Lacazette
