Arsenal are interested in signing German international Shkodran Mustafi, according to former footballer-turned-reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft.

He began his career at Everton but never managed to break into the first team, hence his switch to Italy. However, it looks like Arsene Wenger wants to give him a second shot at a career in England.
Arsenal have been rumoured to be looking for a centre-back all summer, but their need to bring one in has further increased after Per Mertesacker injured his knee this pre-season.
There is no word yet on the reported fee that the Gunners would have to pay for Mustafi if they do decide to make a bid, but the news of a high-class international defender potentially moving to the club should excite all Arsenal fans, many of whom have been disappointed with the lack of transfer activity in recent weeks.
