Arsenal have made a £12million bid to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic according to reports from Germany.
The 27-year-old defender found himself on the fringes of the Dortmund side last season and despite Mats Hummels’ departure, it appears that he still wants to move on in search of regular first-team action.
Subotic has been at Dortmund since 2008, making over 250 appearances for the club, so it could be time for him to look for a new challenge.
According to Express, the Gunners have tabled a bid for the Serbian international, although Middlesborough are also keen on taking him.
On the surface, it seems to be a no-brainer for the defender to move to Arsenal rather than Boro, but if he is looking for regular first-team football, he’s more likely to be guaranteed that in the North East rather than in North London.
There have been reports that Subotic has already visited Boro, so if Arsenal do want him, they may find that they’ve left it too late.
