Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has increased his stake in the club to 67%. As reported by James Benge of the London Evening Standard, Kroenke paid £368,000 to buy a further 23 shares in the club, increasing his stake to just over 67%.

Kroenke has faced criticism from Arsenal fans in the recent past with many calling for him to sell his stake in the club to Alisher Usmanov.

However, Kroenke, whose company also has stakes in the Denver Nuggets (NBA), the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), the Colorado Rapids (MLS), the Colorado Mammoth (Lacrosse) and the LA Rams (NFL), has no plans to sell his stake in Arsenal, and this latest move is a further indication of him wanting to remain in control at the North London side.

Manager Arsene Wenger, who has also come under fire from sections of Arsenal fans in recent months, revealed last week that Kroenke is backing him to make a splash in the transfer market and is fully behind the Arsenal manager.

Stan Kroenke is completely behind myself and the board investing as much money as we want. It has to be in respect of a balanced budget, we have resources but the problem is finding players.
