Santi Cazorla made his long-awaited return for the under-21s on Tuesday night. The Spaniard has been missing from Arsenal’s first team, since picking up an injury against Norwich in November.
Due to his absence, Arsenal have lacked any real creativity in the middle of the park. While Mohamed Elneny has put in some top performances over the last few weeks, there is no doubt that Cazorla’s loss has been a big reason why Arsenal have dropped down the table.

Since returning to full training, Cazorla featured on the bench against Norwich at the weekend, while also completing just over for the under-21s last night. After playing last night, Cazorla reiterated his desire to play in Arsenal’s two remaining games, and help secure a top four spot, he told Arsenal.com.
I’m very happy to be back, it’s a great feeling after five months. Of course I want to try to play with the first team at the weekend against Man City. [Arsene Wenger] has the decision, I know it’s difficult for him and for me. But I work hard every day to try and play at the weekend.
We need to fight until the end to try to get second place. If we win the last two games, we can do that. I want to help my team-mates.

Arsenal face a crucial game against Manchester City at the weekend, and could well need the ability of Cazorla. Moreover, with Tottenham Hotspur losing against Chelsea, Arsenal could well finish in the top two, albeit optimistic.
