Arsenal consider move for Bayern Munich hotshot

Arsenal’s main striker, Olivier Giroud, increased his Premier League goal drought to 15 games yesterday, and for large parts of the game, was completely ineffective.

Although he gained the assist for Danny Welbeck’s game-winning goal, Olivier Giroud look bereft of confidence. The French international striker has had an indifferent season, scoring 12 goals in 36 appearances in the league this year, as per Squawka. Such a low goal tally, has led many fans to conclude that Giroud is not the world-class striker that Arsenal need in order to win a Premier League.

Likewise, it is uncertain whether Danny Welbeck- although he has played well since his return- could be the striker who can be relied upon to score 20 or more goals. As reported via The Mirror, Arsenal have earmarked Robert Lewandowski, if the Polish striker were to leave Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers in Europe this season. The Polish striker has scored 27 goals in 30 appearances this season, and has been part of a dominant Bayern Munich team.

Such a fantastic record means that it is unlikely that Arsenal would be the only club after Lewandowski. Although the striker has hinted at his desire to play in England one day, with three years left on his contract, it would take a large fee to prise him away.
