Multiple clubs lining up Walcott transfer

After joining Arsenal as a prodigious 16-year-old talent from Southampton, Theo Walcott’s career has not progressed as some may have thought.

This season has been a tough one for the England international, which has lead to many believing that he could leave Arsenal in the summer.

Walcott has not made Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up since Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in February.

With the emergence of Alex Iwobi, it seems Walcott’s playing time is at risk, which is worrying for the 27-year-old winger as it has threatened his chances of making the England’s Euro 2016 squad.

Speaking to Sky Sports, regular pundit and former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas believes Arsenal should try to keep the winger amid interest from several clubs.

There has to be suitors looking at him. I don’t see why Manchester United and Liverpool wouldn’t be interested. Theo has the pace that people will be interested in and Chelsea might also be looking at him if they’re considering letting Eden Hazard go. I think if the money was there, Arsene would sell him but I would not. It scares me that he could go to another club and deliver.

The former Arsenal man believes there is still more to come from the winger, amid accusations of his lack of development over the years.

I do believe he has it in him to score 20+ goals in a season. Arsene needs to change something for next season and he clearly needs to change the way he uses Walcott if he’s going to get the best out of him. Theo is too nice though and I’d like to think he would have a good honest row with Arsene every now and again and ask him what he needs to do to prove himself.

If Walcott does miss out on Hodgson’s squad due to lack of game time, a move elsewhere could well be on the cards. At 27, he is in the prime of his career and needs guaranteed match time, something he has not been getting of late at Arsenal.
