Arsenal to rival Juventus for Mahrez

According to the Mirror, Arsenal will have to contend with Serie A frontrunners Juventus, if they want to sign Leicester City’s talented midfielder, Riyad Mahrez.

Despite the Foxes crushing 2-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday, the 24-year-old French international has been in excellent form for the league leaders this season. At the 54th minute mark, Claudio Ranieri was forced to remove Mahrez after Danny Simpson’s red card at the Emirates, which ultimately altered the outcome of the match.

Mahrez has been one of the main reasons for Leicester City’s improbable run to the top of the Premier League table. His 15 goals and 10 assists are second only to teammate Jamie Vardy’s league-leading 19 goals and Mesut Ozil’s stunning 17 assists.

Mahrez showed his potential to Arsene Wenger on Sunday with his trickery and on-the-ball intelligence proving a real test for the talented Nacho Monreal, who dealt well with the Algerian’s threat.

However, with Juventus joining the fray for Mahrez’s services, Arsenal’s hopes of signing him could be slightly hindered, with his price tag likely to be upwards of at least £30m.
