Debuchy in talks with Champions League rivals

Out of favour Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy has reportedly spoken to AS Roma representatives over a possible move to the Serie A side in January.

The thirty-year-old Frenchman is currently playing second fiddle to the young Catalonian Hector Bellerin, who since his emergence into the first team, is fast becoming a fan favourite amongst the Arsenal faithful due to his explosive pace which offers great sweeping support behind Per Mertesacker as well as a dynamic option going forward.

Arsenal fans have been impressed with Bellerin’s contribution since he made his first team debut filling in for the injured Debuchy. Bellerin has grafted a number of notable performances in his short career at Arsenal, his role in intercepting and creating Arsenal’s second in a memorable night against Bayern Munich at the Emirates earlier this year one highlight so far.

Since then, Debuchy has featured scarcely for the Gunners and has primarily been deployed in cup games and as cover whilst Bellerin is injured. Debuchy has struggled to find form during the games in which he has featured, and perhaps a move elsewhere may provide an opportunity for him to find form ahead of the upcoming Euro 2016 this summer.

In hunt for first team regular football, Debuchy has reportedly come into contact with rival Champions League contenders AS Roma, as well as apparently arousing interest from the Champions of his native France- Paris Saint Germain. If Debuchy is pursuing first team football he may opt not to return to his home nation of France with PSG as the position of right full-back is already extensively covered through Marquinhos, Aurier and Van Der Wiel.

If Debuchy is to represent France at the upcoming Euros in his home country, he must find first team regular football- and fast if he is to impress the France national coach Deschamps and convince him he is still worthy of wearing the national colours.
