According to reports on the talkSPORT website, Napoli have slapped a £14.5m price tag on Arsenal and Liverpool target Jose Callejon. At 28-years-old, the Spanish winger has a few years left of his prime and would be a short-term solution for any club in pursuit.
The former Real Madrid man has netted 26 times in the last two seasons, impressive for someone spending most of his time out wide. The Spaniard’s agent has also recently said that the player is entertaining all offers, especially ones from the Premier League.

He would be an interesting addition for Arsenal, as the attacking midfield and wing areas are already loaded with young talent ready to burst onto the scene, so adding a 28-year-old would not do much to help younger and arguably just as talented players looking to develop even further in the top flight.
Additionally, manager Arsene Wenger should be looking for a true centre forward in the mould of Callejon’s teammate Gonzalo Higuain or his former teammate Karim Benzema. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the 22-year-old winger, who is looking to have a breakout season, would certainly feel concerned by the potential arrival of Jose Callejon, who is six-years older and plays in the same position as the young Englishman.
The Spaniard would add goals from wide areas which are valuable for any team, but Arsenal have those in abundance with Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, and Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is beginning to get on the scoresheet more and more.

Callejon would add even more pace to an Arsenal team that certainly does not lack in that department, and he and playmaker Mesut Özil, who crossed paths during their days at Real Madrid, would potentially make a great pair in the middle.
The Napoli man would add a dangerous element to the squad, but he does not have any qualities that would be totally new to the current Arsenal team, so whether or not he would be wholly beneficial to the side is something that must be questioned.
