Petr Cech has voiced his confidence in the current Arsenal team and is under no illusions that the Gunners’ recent run of trophies will only further add to their winning mentality.
Speaking at the Arsenal Member’s Day, the ‘keeper claimed that winning trophies only increases your hunger for success rather than satisfy the urges.
“A lot of times, people say that if you win a major trophy you get satisfied and stop working. I think it’s the other way around.
“Once you win a big trophy, it’s such an amazing feeling of achievement and accomplishment that you want to live it again. This group now knows how to win trophies and they enjoy it very much.”
Cech, who has won almost every trophy there is to win during his glittering career – including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one Europa League title and the Champions League – hopes that at the very least next season, Arsenal will be able to win yet another trophy and keep the winning streak going.
“You can see the celebration every time we win trophies, and everybody speaks about it. I’m sure that everybody wants to at least repeat that this year.”
So far, Cech has made only three appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side and has won the same number of trophies, while keeping two clean sheets; including the Community Shield victory over former side and London rivals Chelsea. The Czech Republic international will be hoping that he can help the Gunners to yet another trophy, be that another FA Cup or the Premier League in the upcoming campaign.
