Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with moves for Bordeaux forward Malcom in recent weeks but it looks like the prospect of the Brazilian moving to the Premier League this month look to have been dashed.

New Bordeaux manager Gus Poyet and the club President Stéphane Martin reiterated that the 20-year-old was not for sale, with Poyet even saying that he would not have agreed to take the job as manager if the forward was going to be allowed to leave.

As reported by GFFN, Poyet said:

I immediately asked if Malcom was staying or leaving [when I was interviewed]. I was told he’s staying. So I said good, we can continue this interview.

Martin also confirmed that the club has no intentions of selling their star man.

I have said it before and I will say it again, Malcom is not leaving this month.

Recent stories suggested that the Gunners had distanced themselves from a January move for the Brazilian, so this news could actually be a positive as he could be available in the summer. At one point, it looked like he would be signing for Spurs, but if that’s not the case, Arsenal could go back in for him at the end of the season.
