Predicted XI: Arsenal vs Reading

The round of 16 for the EFL Cup is upon us, which means it is time to pick the hodgepodge of 11 youngsters, fringe players, and players rehabbing from injury who will take the field to start Tuesday night’s game against Reading. Taking place at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s players will have the backing of their own fans, giving the team, especially the younger players who may start, more confidence.

In the last EFL Cup match for the Gunners, they thrashed a weak Nottingham Forest side by a score of 4-0, with most of the credit going to new boy Lucas Perez. Since then, Arsenal have won five of six matches, with the only dropped points coming on Saturday against Middlesborough in a 0-0 draw.

Arsene Wenger has always used domestic cup matches as chances for young players to prove their worth in the first team, so it seems as though he will continue that trend on Tuesday night against Reading. Take a look at the predictions for the squad.
