On Sunday, 27th March, Arsenal shareholder and die hard supporter Piers Morgan revealed that Arsene Wenger had been offered a brand new contract, which was awaiting his signature.
The Frenchman’s current contract at the north London side expires in the summer of 2017 and there were reportedly no plans to extend it, with Wenger himself stating that he did not know if he would be at the club beyond the end of the deal.
Twitter: ‘It’s on his desk. New 3-yr deal.’
What I was told last night about Wenger’s offer from Arsenal/Kroenke. Shocking. #afc (@piersmorgan)
With Arsenal supposedly pushing for Premier League glory this season, if they fail to regain their deficit of points on both Leicester City and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, it will prove yet another shocking season without any titles to brag about.
Twitter: 18 years of FAILURE in Champions League.
He’s never won it & only made 1 final.
Embarrassing he boasts about it. https://t.co/UecOtRMs2H (@piersmorgan)
Despite that, the man who claimed he built the club has been offered a new deal, and Twitter reacted in the only way it knows how to.
Twitter: New deal? Arsenal won’t prosper till Wenger retires. It is now a done deal. https://t.co/zcjsXEDIEY (@jiiresjewel)
Some supporters failed to come to terms with the potential deal.
Twitter: Wenger has been offered a new deal, it’s about as believable as Arsenal bidding £37m for Xhaka. Neither are happening. (@LeeGunner82)
Twitter: Oi if wenger has been offered a new deal I’m supporting AFC Wimbledon (@Tconnolly97)
Others applauded the deal, claiming it was ‘brilliant’.
Twitter: New contract for Wenger?!! YESSSS THAT IS BRILLIANT! #OneArseneWenger (@Sajj_xo)
Twitter: #arsenal Wenger to stay? Brilliant! The grass is never greener! Not falling for the media anti Wenger campaign! #AFC #WengerIN

One supporter wanted to start a parade, one that Wenger himself may just be on board with…
Twitter: Wenger is getting a new 3 year contract? Ok, I’m done. Start up the bus, the 4th place trophy parade starts here. (@SirHeppe
