Arsenal battled Liverpool on Wednesday evening to earn a valuable point, meaning they remained top of the Premier League table. The game against the Reds was the first of three crucial games for Arsenal.

Arsenal lost the chance to take three points from Anfield on Wednesday night after Joe Allen salvaged a draw for Liverpool late in the game. The Gunners now sit top of the table, but level on points with second place Leicester City. Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, however, thinks that the next two games against Stoke City and Chelsea could decide if Arsenal will win the title this year.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Parlour admitted he not only believes that Leicester will fall away, but also that Arsenal will be favourites to win the title if they can get through the Chelsea and Stoke games.

Certainly they’ve got an excellent opportunity this season with the results in an amazing Premier League. I still think it’s probably a two-horse race.

I don’t want to discount Leicester at the moment because they’re doing so well, but City and Arsenal have the bigger squads and when you get down to those last eight or 10 games that’s when you’ve got to have players with experience.

It’s been a long time since Arsenal won it, so they’ve just got to keep it going now and they’ve got a tricky couple of games coming up – Stoke away and Chelsea at home. After the next two games you’ll know if they’re real title contenders and probably favourites to win it.

Arsenal have now added to their squad with the official announcement of Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian is a player whom Parlour thinks will add great depth to Arsenal’s squad, and therefore improve their title chances.

Elneny will play in midfied, and they do need another player in there. Mathieu Flamini’s doing a decent job with Francis Coquelin out, but at 23 years old Elneny’s got that little bit more mobility, he’s good in the tackle and efficient on the ball.

Arsenal could have Elneny in the squad for the Stoke game, a fixture which could prove crucial in Arsenal’s bid to win the title.
