Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to provide an update on the impending transfer of Mohamed Elneny.
The Egyptian star is reportedly closing in on a move to the Gunners for roughly £5m and underwent a medical earlier in the week, although when asked about the FC Basel midfielder, Wenger refused to provide any update.

I have nothing to say because he is not our player. We have not signed anybody and we are not imminently in a position where we can say we have signed somebody. We are out there to get someone but at the moment we haven’t signed anybody.
The Gunners boss was talking to the media after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United – a fixture which proved to be trickier than first imagined, with the visitors providing a threat throughout the game and perhaps deserved at least a point.

However, Laurent Koscielny’s second-half volley from inside the six-yard box proved to be enough, meaning the north London side remained top of the Barclays Premier League after grabbing all three points.
With the transfer window now open, if any move for Elneny is to be completed, it’ll likely happen in the next week, considering the advanced stages of the move.
