As the January window looms closer it seems are considering some additions to their strike force. One name that has surprisingly come up is that of Manchester United loanee forward Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez initially excelled with United, but with Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, the Mexican found it hard to find game time under Louis van Gaal. Chicharito surprisingly earned aa loan move to Real Madrid but could still not to prove to Van Gaal that he was worth keeping, consequently he was sold to Bayer Leverkusen last summer for £7 million.

As we enter the crucial the Christmas period, Arsenal are looking to reinforce their squad. Danny Welbeck has suffered a setback and will potentially not be back until February, leaving Arsenal with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as their only strikers- the latter also operating as a winger. Chicharito has been in excellent form for Leverkusen this season, scoring 18 goals in 24 appearances so far this season, and would bolster Arsenal’s attacking options.

If the Gunners were to sign the ex-Manchester United forward, it would be a shrewd signing. It seems unlikely, however that the German side will part company with one of the best players this year.

The January window can sometimes be unpredictable, it may seem unlikely now, but maybe Wenger can tempt the Mexican forward back to the Premier League.
