Eric Dier to miss North London Derby due to suspension

Tottenham’s Eric Dier will miss this weekend’s North London Derby clash with Arsenal due to suspension after he picked up a four-game suspension.

Back in March, prior to lockdown, Dier went into the crowd to confront a supporter who was allegedly in a confrontation with one of his family members following Spurs’ loss to Norwich City in the FA Cup.

Today, the FA have banned Dier from Tottenham’s next four games which are against Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

Dier admitted that his actions were improper but denied that they were threatening, however, an Independent Regulatory Commission subsequently found Eric Dier’s actions to be threatening and as such, he was given the four-game ban.

Spurs only have five games left to play this season, which means that Dier will now only be available for the game against Crystal Palace on July 26th.

Dier has been playing at centre-back for Tottenham in recent weeks, so Jose Mourinho will now need to rejig his defence to compensate for the absence of the England international.
