Jenas: Arsenal should sign Aubameyang

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas has said that he feels as though the Gunners shouldn’t be put off signing ‘problematic’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund this month, as reported by the Mirror.

Arsenal lost star attacker Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United earlier in the week and are keen to bring in a replacement in the shape of the Dortmund player before the window slams shut.

The Gabon international has had problems at the German club this season on a number of different occasions, being dealt with disciplinary action. He is thought to have agreed his personal terms with the North London club already.

Jenas feels as though there are a lot more pros than cons if they were to bring the player to the Premier League. The pundit explained why he feels Arsenal must do everything they can to land Aubameyang. Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno/Getty Images Sport

It’s fair to say they’re bringing in a problematic type player. Now I played with players that I didn’t get on with, players that probably wasn’t liked, but on a Saturday afternoon when it came to game time they were massive for us.

He went on to speak about how well the forward has done in his career to date.

And I think if you go through Aubameyang’s figures and record of putting the ball into the back of the net he has probably been one of the best in the Bundesliga for a number of years and one of Dortmund’s better strikers during the time that he’s been there.

You come across there characters every now and again in the game. You can’t just not buy them on the basis of their character – it’s what makes them who they are.

The thing that you can do is put him in the side, expect him to score goals and be for the better of your side and hope that the players around the dressing room have a level of character to be able to manage him also.

Arsenal will hope to get the move done in time for the visit of a struggling Everton side to the Emirates next weekend in the Premier League, although this does appear to be somewhat unlikely.
