Arsene Wenger was ‘aggressive’ towards Mike Dean

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger called referee Mike Dean ‘a disgrace’ in the Gunners’ 1-1 draw against West Brom at the end of last year, the Evening Standard reports.

Wenger received a three-game touch-line ban after visibly criticising Dean, as he awarded West Brom a hugely controversial penalty in the 1-1 draw.

On Tuesday, the FA showed a written report which explained why Wenger had received a three-game ban, which has duly been served.

In the statement, it read the the Gunners boss had gone into the officials’ room following the draw at the Hawthorns and tried to intimidate the officials.

Dean explained what exactly happened after the incident in the game.

He was very aggressive leaning towards me, pointing aggressively at me saying ‘you’re not honest’ on numerous occasions.

I replied ‘so you’re calling me a cheat’. He replied ‘I maintain what I say, you’re not honest’.

Dean then explained that Wenger said it wasn’t the first time that in Dean had cause the Gunners problems.

He then said ‘you’ve done this to us many times before, you’re supposed to be professional, you’re a disgrace’.

He was then ushered out of the room by the West Brom safety officer’.
