Arsenal came back fighting having first gone 2-0 down, courtesy of goals from Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Özil, only for Roberto Firmino to claim a point for the Reds.
Both sides were forced to settle for a point in what was one of the best games so far this season, which will see Liverpool spend Christmas inside the top four this season.
Arsenal named the same side which beat Newcastle in the Premier League last weekend as Ainsley Maitland-Niles retained his place at full-back while Shkodran Mustafi was forced to settle for a place on the bench upon his return from injury.
