The agent of Arsenal forward Lucas Perez is in Istanbul to finalise a deal which will see the striker join Turkish giants Fenerbahce after failing to impress in England following his move to North London last summer, according to reports.
News outlet Sabah have claimed that the Spanish striker’s agent was spotted in Istanbul as he discusses the final details of the transfer with Fenerbahce officials.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said that he has Perez in his plans for the upcoming season but the striker has been left frustrated and disappointed by the lack of first-team opportunities since joining the Gunners last summer.
Perez prefers a move back to his homeland but his former club Deportivo La Coruna failed to meet Arsenal’s asking price and have therefore dropped out of the race for his signature.
There was a possibility of Perez remaining in the Premier League as newly promoted side Newcastle United showed their interest in signing him, but haven’t made an official approach yet.
Should the right fee be offered, then Wenger will not stand in the way of Perez leaving the Emirates. The forward’s future was in doubt ever since the Gunners signed Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon earlier in the summer.
Fenerbahce are hoping that there are no complications in the transfer and expect to announce Perez sometime this week.
