Arsenal are set to lose out on their transfer target Ousmane Dembele to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona as the Catalan club look to include Gerard Deulofeu in a potential swap deal with Borussia Dortmund, according to a report on Metro.
The Gunners have identified Dembele as a target this summer after failing with three bids for Monaco star Thomas lemur, but they are set to miss out on Dembele also as Barcelona eye up the Frenchman to replace the departed Neymar.
The 20-year-old forward is open to the idea of moving this summer, with reports that Dortmund have place a £90m price tag on him.
However, Barcelona are hoping that by including Deulofeu in the deal, their valuation will drop considerably.
Barcelona are desperate to replace Neymar as quickly as possible and Dembele is suited to their style of play.
The youngster is quick and skilful with the ball at his feet which makes him a nightmare to defend against and will certainly be an upgrade on Deulofeu.
Arsenal will need to do something extraordinary to get Dembele to choose the Gunners over Barcelona and will now begin to identify other targets.
Deulofeu was regarded as one of the brightest talents in the Barcelona youth system but then fell away and has now returned back to the Nou Camp, but the club are ready to sacrifice him for the younger option Dembele.
